Some East Indian Love…

From Bacaim to Bassein to Vasai, this quaint town has long been a stronghold of East Indian culture and tradition.

Vasai’s various East Indian sub-cultures- Walkar, Waadval, Maankar, Shastikar, Kulbi, Kaado, Catholic Koli and Aagri (if I have missed any feel free to let me know) have added their own spice to an already heady brew. It is difficult getting a comprehensive collation of information on one website, which is why I thought it better to simply keep pointing you to various web spaces that will tell you more about the ‘Susegaad’ East Indians.

  7. Hello Nameeta, as far as I know, foogyas are never sold over the counter but always made fresh at home. This is largely because they get soft if they aren’t had fresh. You could try looking out for an East Indian who knows to make foogyas and is ready to share (we usually do) among your neighbours :)
